Sossusvlei – Namib-Naukluft Park Sand Dunes

Sossusvlei — Namib-Naukluft Park

Sossusvlei is in Namib-Naukluft Park in southwestern Namibia. Larger than Switzerland, this fantastically scenic desert landscape is Africa’s fourth-largest national park. The Namib Desert, with its surprising wildlife and plant species, its stark and striking beauty and some of the world’s tallest sand dunes, is a must-see for scenic photographers.

Sossusvlei Accommodations — Dunes Lodge

This isolated lodge is in the heart of the largest privately owned reserve in southern Africa, just south of Sossusvlei itself. Here at the end of the world, we can’t promise 5-star luxury and nouvelle cuisine, nor will you find air-conditioned rooms, electric hair dryers or sliding glass doors to separate you from nature. Instead, Dunes Lodge lets you experience the desert’s awesome grandeur and breathtaking beauty . . . and sometimes the elements remind us of our insignificance. As much as the desert can kindle your spirits, it also can be harsh and unforgiving, so be prepared.

We can promise you, however, that here, in this land of vast blue skies and endless plains, you will find beauty to feed your soul, tranquility to clear your mind and space for your imagination to fly.

Dunes Lodge perches atop a sand plateau with panoramic desert vistas in all directions. The building combines wooden structures, large canvas blinds and windows that open up to the desert. Thus the lodge offers the ambiance of a tent camp, but with the comfort and protection of a permanent base.
